Yes! As long as you have an insurance plan that is in-network with our practice, your initial consultation will be billed to your insurance plan. Please be aware that “covered” doesn’t always mean your insurance will cover the visit at 100%. It means that they will pay for their pre-designated portion of the visit. To learn more, call the number on the back of your insurance card.

Our providers fall under the category of “Specialists” in the healthcare industry, meaning they aren’t preventative services. Your insurance plan often has a deductible that they require you to pay for before they begin paying at a higher rate for your treatment or sometimes even the full amount.

Sometimes, your provider may also perform a procedure or an ultrasound evaluation of your injury in the office on the same day as your initial evaluation. This is done to help the provider further diagnose your injury, but it also saves you time from having to come back into the office on a different day to have the procedure or ultrasound performed separately. These procedures are routine, just like X-rays.

If your insurance company requires a referral such as an HMO plan, then yes, you will need a referral from your PCP. If you are unsure whether or not your plan requires a referral, this information is often provided on your insurance card or you can call your insurance company directly to ask this question.

If you are being “referred” to our office by your Physical Therapist or Chiropractor, this does not count as a referral and you will still need to call your PCP to request the referral to be authorized through your insurance company.

Possibly. Your provider blocks off a certain amount of time for your visit, which is typically used to evaluate one injury at a time. To be respectful of your time and everyone else’s time, we cannot promise that your provider will have the proper time to evaluate the second injury in this same visit; this will be up to the provider’s discretion.

No, there are a handful of procedures that we perform at BSB that are still considered “investigational” by most insurance companies and therefore are “non-covered” services. To learn more about these procedures specifically, you will first need to be evaluated by the provider and offered these services. Each insurance provider is a bit different, so we will confirm with your specific insurance carrier whether or not the procedure is covered. We will then provide you with our cost for the procedure we recommend for your injury, which will be due at the time of the procedure, scheduled at a later date.

Yes, we do offer them to our new patients who live over an hour away, but are still in Massachusetts.

Your initial consultation is best accomplished in person so that a physical examination can be performed, which is difficult to do over video. So if you live within the area, we ask that you schedule an appointment in the office to optimize your time with our providers.

If you live outside of Massachusetts, please call our office to find out how we can schedule your in-person appointment.
